  江是战国时知名的浅井三姊妹中的么妹,母亲是战国第一美女、织田信长之妹阿市。大姊茶茶是丰臣秀吉最知名的侧室淀殿,二姊阿初是秀吉家臣京极次高的正室,而江自己则历经三段婚姻,最后成为德川二代将军秀忠的御台所(将军正室)。

  江出生在战乱中,在年幼时便随母亲和姊姊数度在战乱中迁居,皆因诸将间为争夺权势,就连江的婚姻也充满变动:先是和表兄佐治一成的婚姻,遭秀吉逼迫离缘后,和丰臣秀胜间的夫妻情分又因秀胜战死在朝鲜而终;最后在秀吉三度做主之下,江下嫁小她六岁、后来成为德川第二代将军的德川秀忠。

  自幼被戏称为女弹正忠,被视为舅舅织田信长信念的接班人,江因为动盪不安的局势而三度颠沛流离,看尽天下豪杰为争夺天下人之位而纷扰不休,又在自己和女儿们一次又一次的政治联姻中,了解当初舅舅希望能一统这混乱天下的心情。

作者简介

诸田玲子

  出生于日本静冈市,毕业于上智大学英文系。在成为作家之前,她曾经是化妆品专柜小姐、广播主持人、电视剧本编剧、译者等,而这些累积的社会经验和写作技巧磨练,让她在2000年起陆续有作品入围山本周五郎赏、吉川英治新人赏、直木赏等等重要奖项,在2003年终于以《那一天》获得吉川英治新人赏。而《战国三公主》在出版的该年(2009)获中山义秀文学赏提名,这个奖项专门颁发给优秀的时代小说,2008年大河剧《天地人》原作是该赏2007年度的获赏作品。诸田玲子官方网站:www.r-morota.net/

安浓津城的天守(译註:日本城堡中最高、最主要也最具代表性的部分)里,堆满成山珍宝。

金屏风、莳绘(译註:漆器表面加饰的技法。借漆的黏性将金银粉末固定在漆器表面的技法)镜箱、螺钿(译註:一种在漆器或木器上镶嵌贝壳或螺蛳壳的装饰工艺)马镫、贴上天鹅绒的轿子、金杯、刀、郁金纶子(译註:丝织品)、让叶金(译註:无铭刻的大型金薄片)……。

「妳出嫁的时候,喜欢的东西尽管拿。」
舅父同时也是城主的信包,豪爽地与疼爱的外甥女定下这个承诺。

「妳倒是说说看,喜欢哪些?」
小督别过脸去,指着天守的窗户。眼前是一片银光烁烁的大海。

「我想要那片海。」
「伊势湾又不是我的。」
「既然如此,我就去拿它来孝敬您。」
十岁的小女孩说起话竟豪气干云,信包不禁捧腹大笑。

「有趣、有趣。妳真不亏是女弹正忠啊。」
弹正忠(译註:日本在七、八世纪实施律令制时,监察、警察机关称为弹正台,家格较低者则称为弹正忠。)指的是织田信长。小督是信长之妹──阿市──的么女,双眼浑圆,嘴角看来意志坚定,同时,她伶俐又大胆的个性也获得了「女弹正忠」这个称号。不过,在这个城里,包括她的母亲阿市,忌惮信长的人很多,所以几乎没有人敢面对面这么叫她。

天正十(一五八二)年,秋风刚起的这天,小督和表哥佐治与九郎一成来到安浓津(现在的三重县津市)海边。
「我说我想要这片海,结果主公大人笑话我。」

小督的表情相当认真,一成也露出雪白牙齿咧嘴一笑。不只信包,一成也早已习惯听这天真烂漫的表妹的天马行空。
「妳要海做什么?」
「我要建海军。」
「女孩子怎么可能?」
「为什么……」
「就连身为男人的我都觉得难哪。」

这时的一成只有十四岁,但已经是佐治家的当主(译註:一家之长)。佐治家的城是安浓津对岸的大野城,规模虽小,但佐治家统领了伊势湾东岸的海军。正因为有海军,所以信长才让妹妹阿犬嫁到佐治家。当时的城主是一成的父亲八郎信方,阿犬生下两男一女,但信方在长岛的一揆战(译註:农民起义)中战死,因而离婚。阿犬改嫁到其他人家后不久便过世了。

继承佐治家家督时,一成只有六岁。没有重臣们的帮忙无法管理领地及海军。姑且不论领民,要统帅有多位首领、并且各自有其地盘的海军,可不容易。每每一有事端,就得请出对岸安浓津城主舅父信包来助势。信长的弟弟信包也充分地发挥了他的威严,扮演这个自幼失去双亲外甥的监护人。

从懂事以来,小督就和母亲及两个姊姊一起寄居在信包的城中,所以跟一成也见过好几次面。对活泼的么女来说,与其在城中和姊姊们玩,还不如跟一成一起到海边奔跑,更合她的性子。

「既然如此,那我不要海军了,我要主公大人的船。」
「妳搭船要到哪里去呢?」
「到大野,到佐治家的城去。」
「既然如此,那妳就等着吧。不久之后,我就会开着我的船来接妳的。」
小督摇摇头。

「妳不想搭我的船吗?」
「我现在就得搭。」
「妳说什么……」
「今天晚上就搭,不然明天也行。」
「那是不可能的。得先请主公大人允许才行。可是,主公大人现在不在,也不知道什么时候才会回来。」

一个月左右前,信包慌张地出门赴战。乱世当中战事并不稀奇,不过这次似乎是罕见的大战,不管是出阵的兵士或者是送行者,脸上都流露着悲怆的神色。虽然没人告诉小督详情,但是外祖母和母亲一直关在佛堂里,连姊姊们都刻意轻声细语,她也自然感受到事情的严重性。

幸好,战争结束了。城内紧绷的气氛终于松缓,女人们彼此拉着手,流下安心的泪水。战争换来的并非畅快欢乐,而是泪水,这都是因为胜利的代价实在太大的缘故吧。
