不過每日要跑五公裏，如無相當的毅力和耐力，實在很難持續下去。
黃石城從政二十多年，擔任過八年的彰化縣長又在中央擔任十多年的特任官，卻一直未加入任何政黨，始終以無黨籍身分在颱灣政壇闖蕩，這在今日非藍即綠的颱灣政壇十分難得，尤其在颱灣黨派強勢對立下始終能保持無黨籍超然中立的立場，其中需要有高度的政治智慧與勇氣。
