不过每日要跑五公里，如无相当的毅力和耐力，实在很难持续下去。
黄石城从政二十多年，担任过八年的彰化县长又在中央担任十多年的特任官，却一直未加入任何政党，始终以无党籍身分在台湾政坛闯荡，这在今日非蓝即绿的台湾政坛十分难得，尤其在台湾党派强势对立下始终能保持无党籍超然中立的立场，其中需要有高度的政治智慧与勇气。
