　　读者剧场一系列的教学用书「伊索寓言篇」的学习对象设定为初阶者，由于伊索寓言大都孩子都不陌生，故事简单明了且大都以动物为主角，希望借着有趣简单的经典故事，培养孩子的阅读兴趣和能力。原始故事虽然简单，但用字对初阶学习者而言，还是有不少偏难的单字，所以本书就是从故事的改写开始，而改写的原则，乃是以初阶用字(sight words)为主，将故事简化，并用更多的对话，希望能克服学生对不熟悉的单字的恐惧，掌握阅读的技巧，轻松从听说到读写。
