《聖誕禮物》
一對貧窮但相愛的夫妻，因為沒有錢為對方買特彆的聖誕禮物，所以各自賣掉他們最珍貴的物品，來購買給對方的聖誕禮物：太太賣瞭她引以為傲的秀發，為她的先生買瞭白金錶鍊；而先生賣掉他的金錶為太太買瞭發釵。僅管這對夫妻各自捨棄瞭珍愛的物品，卻收到的錢買不到的珍貴聖誕禮物──愛。

一棵小樅樹一直不滿於現狀，渴望離開森林，終有一天他被砍下，離開森林成為一棵聖誕樹。在體驗瞭莊嚴炫麗的聖誕夜之後，他被遺棄在閣樓裏，感到很孤單。一日，當他瞭解到原本在森林裏單純美好的快樂生活，他決心要感謝現狀。然而卻為時已晚，他已乾枯，被園丁劈成材，丟進爐火中燒盡。

歐‧亨利是美國短篇小說傢，原名William Sidney Porter，他一生從事過多種職業，包括簿記員、藥劑師、製圖師和記者等。1896年時被控盜用金錢而入獄，在獄中他開始寫作短篇小說，齣獄後移居紐約，創作瞭近三百篇短篇小說。
他的創作靈感大多取自居住過或拜訪過的地區，作品通俗易懂，擅長描繪美國社會百姓的小人物生活，其筆觸幽默，故事劇情構思精巧，故事結局往往齣人意料，也說明瞭生命中有許多不確定性，會誘發人性中的善與惡。
Hans Christian Andersen安徒生（1805－1875）
安徒生為丹麥著名作傢，自幼便富想像力。十一歲時，父親因病去世，母親染上酗酒習慣，他被迫輟學去當織工和裁縫學徒。1819年，安徒生開始寫作，他閱讀大量名傢如哥德、拜倫的作品，學習創作詩篇和劇本，並於1822年發錶作品《嘗試集》（Ghost at Palnatoke's Grave），但未獲劇院採用。
