《圣诞礼物》
一对贫穷但相爱的夫妻，因为没有钱为对方买特别的圣诞礼物，所以各自卖掉他们最珍贵的物品，来购买给对方的圣诞礼物：太太卖了她引以为傲的秀发，为她的先生买了白金表鍊；而先生卖掉他的金表为太太买了发钗。仅管这对夫妻各自舍弃了珍爱的物品，却收到的钱买不到的珍贵圣诞礼物──爱。
《枞树》
一棵小枞树一直不满于现状，渴望离开森林，终有一天他被砍下，离开森林成为一棵圣诞树。在体验了庄严炫丽的圣诞夜之后，他被遗弃在阁楼里，感到很孤单。一日，当他了解到原本在森林里单纯美好的快乐生活，他决心要感谢现状。然而却为时已晚，他已干枯，被园丁噼成材，丢进炉火中烧尽。

欧‧亨利是美国短篇小说家，原名William Sidney Porter，他一生从事过多种职业，包括簿记员、药剂师、制图师和记者等。1896年时被控盗用金钱而入狱，在狱中他开始写作短篇小说，出狱后移居纽约，创作了近三百篇短篇小说。
他的创作灵感大多取自居住过或拜访过的地区，作品通俗易懂，擅长描绘美国社会百姓的小人物生活，其笔触幽默，故事剧情构思精巧，故事结局往往出人意料，也说明了生命中有许多不确定性，会诱发人性中的善与恶。
Hans Christian Andersen安徒生（1805－1875）
安徒生为丹麦着名作家，自幼便富想像力。十一岁时，父亲因病去世，母亲染上酗酒习惯，他被迫辍学去当织工和裁缝学徒。1819年，安徒生开始写作，他阅读大量名家如哥德、拜伦的作品，学习创作诗篇和剧本，并于1822年发表作品《尝试集》（Ghost at Palnatoke's Grave），但未获剧院採用。
