杜蘭朵公主
《杜蘭朵》是義大利作麯傢普契尼（Puccini, 1858—1924）的歌劇作品。故事設定在中國北京，描述冷若冰霜的杜蘭朵公主，給求婚者三道謎語，若求婚者無法答齣，便會被處決，直到韃靼王子猜對謎題，融化瞭杜蘭朵公主冰冷的心，讓她認識到愛的真意。此劇改編自義大利劇作傢卡洛‧戈齊（Carlo Gozzi, 1875—1954）的創作。普契尼在世時未能完成全劇的創作，在他去世後，由朋友弗蘭科‧阿爾法諾（Franco Alfano）根據普契尼的草稿將全劇完成。此劇於1926年4月25日在米蘭斯卡拉歌劇院首演，由托斯卡尼尼（Arturo Toscanini, 1867—1957）擔任指揮。
卡門
《卡門》原是法國劇作傢梅裏美（P. Merimee, 1803—1870）的小說，於1875年由法國作麯傢比纔（Georges Bizet, 1838—1875）改寫成歌劇。故事發生在西班牙，一位駐軍旅長唐荷西在值勤時，遇到在菸草廠工作的吉普賽女郎卡門，他深深被卡門驕悍而狂放的性格所吸引，甚至為她逃兵，一同加入走私集團。然而，卡門卻移情彆戀於一位鬥牛士，荷西憤而在鬥牛場上將卡門刺死。該劇由於題材等因素，於1875年首演失敗；而在比纔過世後，《卡門》再度重演，從此成為世界最受歡迎的歌劇之一。
阿伊達
歌劇《阿伊達》為義大利歌劇傢威爾第（Giuseppe Verdi, 1813—1901）所作，於1871年在埃及開羅歌劇院首演。此劇描述衣索比亞在與埃及長年爭戰後，其國王與公主均落入埃及之手，衣索比亞公主阿伊達在埃及皇傢為婢，卻愛上埃及的一位將軍，讓她陷入男女私情與國傢仇恨的掙紮中。《阿伊達》的成功，原因不僅是威爾第成功的譜麯，也因劇情探討愛情、親情的糾葛與國仇傢恨，令人深思。
