This is the latest masterpiece of Chinese scholars re-writing the history of Chinese philosophy in recent decades, it is a brief history of Chinese philosophy that is written in the format of lectures founding upon the classics. This book, bases on the unearthed early Chinese bamboo and cotton manuscripts, also supplies the hundred years of emptiness between Confucius and Mencius with the early Confucian theory of human nature and the Taoism of the Yellow Emperor and Lao Tzu in addition to the traditional Taoism; it also breaks away from the Confucian standard and re-positions Moism and the Legalist School; furthermore, it evaluates the Han philosophy from a brand new angle, reconstructs the Qing history of thought, and even connects with the modern New Confucianism ever since the Republic.
