乔治‧泽提斯George Szirtes
1948年生于匈牙利布达佩斯,1956年匈牙利革命时随家人移居英格兰,在伦敦长大,曾在利兹和伦敦两座城市学习过油画。着有十五本诗集,译有十数本匈牙利文学。第一本诗集The Slant Door(1979)获Faber纪念奖。2014年凭诗集Reel获T.S. Eliot诗歌奖,此前The Burning of Books和Bad Machine两次入选该奖项的最终候选名单。儿童诗集, In the Land of the Giants获CLPE最佳儿童诗歌奖。泽提斯翻译的匈牙利文学赢得多项国际文学奖,其中克拉斯纳霍凯的《撒旦探戈》的英译本赢得2013年美国最佳翻译书奖及2014年布克国际文学奖。现为英国皇家文学协会成员、匈牙利Szécheny文学院院士。最近发表的诗集为Mapping the Delta(2016)。

George Szirtes was born in Budapest in 1948 and came to England as a refugee with his parents and younger brother following the Hungarian Uprising of 1956. He grew up in London and trained as a painter in Leeds and London. He is the author of some fifteen books of poetry, roughly the same of translation from Hungarian. His first, The Slant Door (1979) was joint winner of the Faber Memorial Prize. In 2004 he won the T.S. Eliot Prize for Reel, and was shortlisted for the prize again in 2009 for The Burning of the Books and for Bad Machine (2013). His translations from Hungarian have won various international prizes such as the Best Translated Book Award in the USA for László Krasznahorkai’s Satantango (2013) which also received the translator’s prize in the Man Booker International 2014, and his latest book for children, In the Land of the Giants won the CLPE Prize for best collection of poetry for children, also in 2013. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in the UK and of the Szécheny Academy of Arts and Letters in Hungary. His latest book of poems is Mapping the Delta (2016).
