本书的作者们均为国立台北大学法律学院的老师，皆有留学美国的背景，各自在不同的专业领域深耕、研究及教学。由于作者们都有讲授「法学英文」一科的经验，深感「法学英文」在台湾法学教育的定位，除了英美法律观念的认识外，如何以英文理解并表达本国的法律概念，也同等重要，因此萌生了共同撰写一本以英文介绍我国法律制度书籍的想法。这一本书介绍了我国的法律架构、基本的法律规范与其实践，内容涵盖了绪论、宪法、民法及侵权行为法、契约法、刑事法、证券交易法及国际法。每一个章节都有导读、本文及专有名词选辑，随后并附有选择题及答案，帮助读者检视阅读后的学习效果。

　　相信这一本书，不仅可以帮助本国读者提升法学英文的能力，对于有心熟悉我国法制的外国法律人，也会是一个了解台湾法律的最佳管道。
