乔治．弗里德里克．韩德尔，1685年生于哈雷，1759年卒于伦敦。德国出生的作曲家、管风琴家（1726年入英国籍）。与巴哈同年出生，二人均为巴洛克音乐集大成的代表人物。韩德尔的器乐作品（如奏鸣曲、大协奏曲等）堪称一绝，而他那崇高壮丽、表情生动、富有创新精神和感染力的艺术特点，在其歌剧和神剧中达到登峰造极的境地。
这首《奏鸣曲．作品一之三》原本是为小提琴与数字低音而作，现由萨克斯风演奏家李承育改编为中音萨克斯风与钢琴版本。
George Frideric HANDEL, born (1685) in Halle Germany, died (1759) in London England. A German-born composer and organist (naturalized British citizen in 1726). Handel was born the same year as J.S. Bach. Both are considered the greatest composers of Baroque music. Handel's instrumental compositions (such as sonatas, concerti grossi) were the most highly acclaimed of his work. However, it is in his operas and oratorios that the nobility, expressiveness, creativities, and captivation are appreciated the most.
The "Sonata Op.1 No.3" was originally composed for violin and basso continuo, now transcribed into an alto saxophone and piano piece by saxophonist Cheng-yu LEE.
